01Who we are
Klank (“Klank,” “we,” “us”) is a strength-training app for iPhone and this website. Klank is operated by Blumeo LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Klank app and website (together, the “Services”), how we use it, and the choices you have.

02Information we collect
We collect information you give us, information created when you use Klank, and a small amount of technical information. What we collect depends on the features you use.

Things we don't collect
- We don't read data from Apple Health.
- We don't access your photo library. Photos you pick as a share-card background are processed on your device and aren't uploaded. If you save a share card, it's added to your library with your permission.
- We don't collect your precise location or your contacts.
- We don't use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and never show an App Tracking Transparency prompt, because we don't track.
03How we use information
- To run Klank: calculate ranks and scores, detect PRs, keep your history, sync across devices, run leagues, Callouts and leaderboards, and deliver the feed and messages.
- To keep competition fair: recalculate lifts on our servers, reject implausible entries, and hold unusually large jumps off public leaderboards.
- To keep people safe: filter offensive usernames, review reports, enforce our Community Guidelines, and prevent fraud, spam and abuse.
- To provide subscriptions: confirm Klank Pro access and restore purchases.
- To communicate with you: send notifications you've turned on (for example, when a friend passes you), answer support requests, and send launch or service emails.
- To improve Klank: understand which features are used and fix bugs, using aggregated or de-identified information wherever possible.
- To meet legal obligations and protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
We treat your body measurements and training history as sensitive. We use them only to provide Klank's features to you and the people you choose to share with. We never use them for advertising.
04What other people can see
- Your profile: your username, display name, profile photo, ranks and trophies may be visible to other users, depending on your privacy settings. Your birth year, exact bodyweight and email are never shown publicly.
- Lift videos: recordings are private by default. When you publish a lift, you choose its audience (for example, friends or public). Shared links never grant access to a private recording.
- Leaderboards: ranked lifts can appear on friends, gym, league and global leaderboards, which may show your weight class.
- Messages: direct messages are visible to you and the accepted friend you're messaging.
- Share cards: images you export and post elsewhere are controlled by you and that platform. We can't recall an image once it's been shared.
- Teens: members under 18 are friends-only by default, don't appear on gym or global leaderboards, and can't publish lifts to the public feed.
06What we don’t do
- We don't sell your personal information, and we don't “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We don't run ads in Klank or on this website.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't use your data to infer characteristics about you for advertising or profiling.
07This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. Our host, Netlify, keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and reliability.
If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address to tell you about Klank's launch and beta, and for nothing else. Every email includes a way to opt out, or you can use our contact form to be removed. Form submissions are screened for spam by Netlify.
08How long we keep information
- Account data is kept while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, synced training data, videos, comments, likes, votes and messages.
- Deleted videos are removed from storage by a scheduled cleanup process.
- Backups may hold residual copies for a limited period (typically up to 30 days) before they're overwritten.
- Safety records, such as reports and enforcement actions, may be kept longer when needed to prevent abuse, ban evasion, or to meet legal obligations.
- Data on your iPhone stays there until you delete it or the app.
- Waitlist emails are kept until launch communications end or you ask us to remove you.
09Your choices and controls
- Use Klank without an account: log workouts on your device without connecting.
- Control who sees your lifts: choose an audience every time you publish, and change profile privacy in settings.
- Block and report: block anyone, anywhere. Blocked users disappear from each other's experience.
- Permissions: camera, microphone and notifications are optional and can be changed any time in iPhone Settings.
- Edit or delete content: remove posts, comments and videos you've shared.
- Delete your account: in the app, or see how account deletion works.
10Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we have about you and get a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we don't sell or share it);
- limit the use of sensitive information (we only use it to provide Klank);
- appeal a decision we make about your request.
To make a request, use our contact form and choose “Privacy or data request.” We'll verify the request using your Klank account and respond within the time the law requires. You can use an authorized agent where the law allows. We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.
EEA, UK and Switzerland. Klank is launching in the United States. If you use it from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we process your information to perform our contract with you (providing Klank), based on our legitimate interests (keeping Klank safe and improving it), and with your consent where required (for example, notifications). You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
11Children and teens
You must be at least 13 years old to use Klank. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we'll delete it. If you believe a child under 13 is using Klank, please use our contact form.
For members aged 13 to 17, Klank applies extra protections: profiles are friends-only by default, they're excluded from gym and global leaderboards, they can't receive Callouts from non-friends, and they can't publish lifts to the public feed. Our marketing is aimed at adults.
12Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls including row-level security on our database, and short-lived, access-checked links for video playback. Server secrets never ship inside the app. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your Apple ID secure and let us know right away if you suspect a problem.
13Where information is processed
Klank is operated from the United States, and our service providers process data in the United States and other countries where they operate. When information is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by applicable law.
14Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy as Klank evolves. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top always shows the latest version.
